Freddie Aguilar reveals ₱500,000 was taken from his bedroom vault, police say it was most likely "an inside job"

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that singer-songwriter Freddie Aguilar "was robbed of nearly ₱500,000, which he had placed inside a vault in his bedroom at his residence in North Fairview, Quezon City." The report revealed that Aguilar found out her was robbed on Sunday, Augsut 26.

The report quoted Aguilar who told ABS-CBN News: "Naisip ko kunin ’yung pera sa vault, pambabayad ko sa rent... kasi cash ’yun. hindi cheke. Nagulat na lang ako nawala na pagbukas ko... ’yung mga nasa loob ng bahay ang may alam dun (I thought of getting some money from the vault to pay for the rent...because it was all in cash, not checks. I was shocked when I opened the vault and saw that the money was gone...because only the people inside the house know about that vault)."

 

The report noted that the people in Aguilar’s home have all had their fingerprints taken by the police. Aguilar’s testimony indicates that the robbery was an inside job, since it appears that the thief knew the vault combination. The report also cited Supt. Virgilio Fabian, chief of the Quezon City Police Department Station 5, who said "there were no signs of forced entry" anywhere in the house. Aguilar added: "Ayoko sana maniwala pero kung isa sa anak ko ang gumawa, magiging pinakamasakit sa akin ito talaga (I don’t want to believe it but if one of my children did it, it would be the most painful for me)."
