that at a press briefing on Wednesday, August 29, presidential spokesperson Atty. Edwin Lacierda said "President Noynoy Aquino will pick the next Department of Iinterior and Local Government (DILG) chief ’most definitely’ before he leaves for Russia on September 7." The report noted that Aquino will be out of the country to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ meeting.
According to the report, "Lacierda said the President has not mentioned any particular person to replace Robredo, who died in a plane crash in Masbate on August 18. "
In any case, the report added: "Among those whose names are being floated as possible replacement for Robredo are Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Panfilo Lacson, Rep. Jun Abaya, Transportation Secretary Mar Roxas and Albay Gov. Joey Salceda. The last three are members of the ruling Liberal Party."
