55 witnesses set to testify vs. Gloria Arroyo in electoral sabotage case

The Philippine News Agency (via InterAksyon.com) reports that on Thursday, September 13, the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) "started the pre-trial hearing on electoral sabotage charges against former president and current Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the prosecution panel said it is ready to present 55 witnesses."

The report noted that "the prosecution panel submitted a 28-page document containing the names of 55 witnesses, including municipal election officers in the province of Maguindanao, as well as several media personalities after much wrangling between opposing parties during the hearing at the sala of Pasay RTC Branch 112 Presiding Judge Jesus Mupas."


The report revealed that among the 55 witnesses is "Nurie Unas, the former provincial administrator of Maguindanao who, in his affidavit said he heard Arroyo giving order to Ampatuan to rig the results of the 2007 senatorial elections in favor of the administration bets."
