Newsbytes Philippines reports that "the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police has filed against 28-year-old Joewell Santos Chan of 26 Milkyway Bricktown, Moonwalk, Paranaque City 100 counts of hacking and the violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004." Chan had hacked the email and Facebook accounts of his ex-girlfriend, a 23-year-old girl who is identified only as "Dominique."
According to the report, CIDG chief Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. said that operatives of the CIDG Anti-Transnational and Cyber Crime Division (ATCCD) arrested Chan at around 4:00 p.m. last September 21, 2012. Dominique had contacted the CIDG for assistance.
The Newsbytes Philippines report revealed that Dominique had found out that Chan had hacked her email and Facebook accounts sometime in May this year. In June, Chan asked her to meet up with him, promising that he would give her the new passwords to the accounts. However, at the time, Chan ended up driving Dominique to Halina Motel in Pasay City. There, he forced her to drink vodka before giving her the passwords. She said that she passed out after drinking the vodka. However, she later discovered that the passwords given to her weren’t working. She contacted Chan who demanded another "meeting" and told her that if she didn’t meet up with him again he would post their "motel pictures" online. That was when Dominique sought the help of the CIDG. The agency’s operatives with her and waited for the right time to corner Chan during their September 21 meeting at the Starbucks outlet at Metrowalk, Pasig City.
According to Matikas Santos of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, police also found in Chan’s cellphone "videos showing him abusing the victim while she was sleeping inside his car." They also found "a child pornography video."
