Karl john C. Reyes of InterAksyon.com reports that on Thursday, September 27, Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, who voted for the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act, said he "will file a bill to amend or repeal Section 4, (4) of the law, which provides that ’the unlawful or prohibited acts of libel as defined in Article 355 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, committed through a computer system or any other similar means which may be devised in the future.’"

According to the report, Escudero said that the libel provison was "mistakenly inserted." The report noted: "In an earlier interview, Senator Vicente Sotto III admitted introducing the provision to include all crimes under the Revised Penal Code, including libel, in the new law."
