ABS-CBNNews.com, citing a TV Patrol report, reveals that 46 nurses from the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital (TPDH) claim that they were fired for "Liking" the Facebook status message of a volunteer doctor. The nurses revealed that they were terminated last August. While most of them have accepted their termination, they are complaining that TPDH has not issued them any certificates of employment. Below is the Facebook status message of the volunteer doctor:
"May I express how I feel for a very special hospital--TPDH? We all have freedom and right for expression anyway. Honestly sayang kase disappointing!!! The hospital’s heads do not understand each other and each have their own followers. And so, the hospital services suffers (sic). Much more the dignity of all the staff, nurses and doctors and everyone else who work at the hospital."
The volunteer doctor, who spoke to ABS-CBN but preferred to remain unnamed, maintains that she did not regret posting her Facebook status message. She only lamented the fact that the nurses who liked her message got fired. For its part, TPDH says that the termination of the nurses’ contracts had nothing to do with the Facebook status message at all.
