Mayen Jaymalin of The Philippine Star reports that Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Sixto Brillantes expressed that they are just "leaving it up to the voters to put an end to political dynasties." The report quoted Brillantes, who said, "There's nothing we can do. There is no enabling law that prohibits political dynasty though it is prohibited under the Constitution"

Brillantes likewise added: "People's initiative is the best move so that it would not pass Congress because they (lawmakers) will not do something that will directly affect them. For me, that is the real solution."
