Fugitive and former general Jovito Palparan Jr., wanted for his alleged involvement in the disappearance of two UP student activists, has asked the Court of Appeals to protect his rights and put the case on hold.

Edu Punay of the Philippine Star reports Palparan, through his lawyers, has asked the CA to issue a temporary restraining order on a lower court that ordered him and other Army men arrested for kidnapping and serious illegal detention. Palparan, and his co-accused retired sergeant Rizal Hilario, said these were not among the original charges filed against them by the parents of missing activists Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeño.

Palparan and Hilario said allowing the case to proceed will cause them "irreparable injury considering that all the might and resources of the government are being used against them." The government has offered P2 million for information leading to Palparan’s arrest.
