Establishments in Quezon City will need to install closed-circuit  television cameras if they want to stay in business as the mayor’s office has made CCTVs a requirement for the renewal of permits.

Jing Villamente of the Manila Times reports Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has directed the city’s Business Permit and Licensing office to send out notices of the new rule, which will take effect in January 2013.  According to the report, "establishments operating within the city must have their own CCTV, especially those big businesses including banks, pawnshops, gas stations, malls, supermarkets and even schools."

The city earlier set aside P100 million to install CCTV cameras on major and secondary roads.
