The Department of Foreign Affairs has summoned Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Shulan Primavera to explain an allegation that he harassed his housemaid at the embassy there.

Rainier Allan Ronda of the Philippine Star reports Primavera has been ordered to come back to the Philippines. "We want to give due course to the accusation, at the same time ensure that due process of law is observed," DFA spokesman Raul Hernandez said. Aside from sexual harrassment, trafficking and forced labor complaint could also be filed against Primavera, the housemaid’s lawyer says in the report.

Despite this, the DFA will need clearance from President Benigno Aquino III to investigate Primavera. The diplomate is covered by the Philippine Foreign Service Act of 1991.
