Typhoon Pablo could be a message from God about the RH bill, bishop says

Even as residents of Visayas and Mindanao try to recover from damage brought by Typhoon Pablo, a Catholic bishop suggested on Thursday that it may have been a message from God about the Reproductive Health bill.

Even as residents of Visayas and Mindanao try to recover from damage brought by Typhoon Pablo, a Catholic bishop suggested on Thursday that it may have been a message from God about the Reproductive Health bill.

Christine Herrera of Manila Standard Today reports Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said, "I don't know if that's a coincidence or if God has a message for us that if we discuss this (RH bill), much suffering will be brought down upon us."

In August, when heavy monsoon rains caused massive flooding in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon, Father Melvon Castro, executive secretary of the Episcopal  Commission on Family Life of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, suggested the same thing. The RH bill had also been subject of heated debate at the time.

"Although we would not give other meaning to it, nonetheless God speaks through his creation as well. Nature tells us to respect the natural course of things," he said then.
