The Department of Budget and Management has released P933.8 million for public-private partnership (PPP) projects that will upgrade 14 domestic airports for night flights.

Delon Porcalla of the Philippine Star reports airports in Tuguegarao, San Jose (Mindoro), Busuanga, Naga, Legazpi, Roxas, Tagbilaran, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Pagadian, Ozamiz, Cotabato, Butuan, and Surigao will be upgraded to allow "night landing operations."

Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said the government is upgrading the airports "because there's greater tourist interest in our local destinations, our airports are busier than ever. We are seeing a larger volume of human traffic and more flights weaving their way in and out of our runways."
