Eve Ensler, a Tony-award winning playwright, is in Manila for a week-long visit to campaign against violence against women.

Eve Ensler, a Tony-award winning playwright, is in Manila for a week-long visit to campaign against violence against women.

 

Crispina Martinez-Belen of the Manila Bulletin reports "Ensler will meet with women's groups and women leaders from the grassroots communities, women workers, migrant and their children, peasant women, Comfort Women, students, artists, lawmakers, writers, members of the media, and V-Day actresses and activists who have been doing ’The Vagina Monologues’ and V-Day in the Philippines for the last 13 years now."

 

Ensler is part of the One Billion Rising World Tour, a campaign to arrest a rise in violence against women. The group estimates around 1 billion women around the world suffer violence, abuse, and exploitation.
