Three Filipino teens have brought home medals from the 2012 International Judo-Wrestling Championship in Singapore, Manila Times reports.
Three Filipino teens have brought home medals from the 2012 International Judo-Wrestling Championship in Singapore, the Manila Times reports.
According to the report, Chino Tancontian "ruled the wrestling boys' 13-year-old 45-kilogram and below event and the judo 13-year-old 45-kilogram (kg) category of the tournament which drew participants from 20 countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau and host Singapore."
Sydney Tancontian, meanwhile,brought home silver medals from the judo girls' 13-year-old mixed middleweight -63 kilograms and 16-year-old women's heavyweight cadets -75kg categories. She placed third in the submission grappling adult women's middleweight below 25-year-old division.
"Benz Binoya, an Ateneo de Davao University standout, made his presence felt by winning a bronze medal in the wrestling boys' 16-year-old middleweight-63kg," the report said. The three are being groomed for the Asian Youth Games in 2013.
