Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has ordered the head of the National Bureau of Investigation’s National Capital Region office suspended and several agents sacked over a rowdy birthday party that ended with one agent getting shot.

Leonard Postrado of the Manila Bulletin reports de Lima wants NBI-NCR chief George Jularbal suspended for 90 days for command responsibility over the incident. Agents who attended the party last Friday will also be relieved  from duty.

De Lima said drinking at the NBI office is prohibited, especially since the agents were armed during the party. "Bakit may alcohol within NBI premises? That’s grave violation. Kaya pina-relieve ko," she said.

According to reports, agent Nestor Pascual shot and wounded his Joselito Guillen, his fellow agent. "Initial investigation showed that Guillen was trying to calm down Pascual, who was running amok, when Pascual suddenly fired his gun, shooting Guillen three times," the report said.
