Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano offended by Sen. Juan Ponce Enrileās chief of staff calling him a "hypocrite"

The report noted that "Reyes on Monday, January 21, called Cayetano a hypocrite for not returning-unlike Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago-the additional funds of ā±250,000 he received last year." The report explained that "Reyes issued the statement following the tension-filled privilege speech where her boss moved to vacate his post." The report noted that "Enrileās motion, however, was rejected by 11 of his 16 colleagues present on Monday, January 21."

The report gaveĀ brief background on the issue:Ā "[The debacle] started early this month after it was revealed that Enrile supposedly released some ā±1.6 million as additional āmaintenance and other operating expendituresā (MOOE) to [each of his] 18 colleagues from āsavingsā of the chamber in 2012, excluding Alan and Pia Cayetano, Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Antonio Trillanes IV." The "excluded" senators, however, still received ā±250,000 each.
