ABS-CBNNews.com reports that according to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Supt. Generoso Cerbo, "serious crimes such as murder, homicide theft, robbery, rape, and car theft reported to Metro Manila police only reached 1,218 last month, compared to 3,021 in the same month last year." Cerbo pointed out: "(It’s lower by) 59.68%."
Â
Cerbo explained that despite the recent armed robbery incidents (such as the SM Megamall robbery) that made the headlines, there is "no upsurge" of crime in Metro Manila.
