Lawyer who married 3 women gets reprieve from Supreme Court, allowed to practice profession again after showing "sufficient remorse"

ABS-CBNNews.com-citing a six-page resolution penned by Associate Justice Estela Perlas-Bernabe-reports that "the Supreme Court (SC) has allowed lawyer Edmundo Macarubbo, 58, to be be reinstated in the Roll of Attorneys after he "sufficiently showed remorse and acknowledged his indiscretion in the legal profession and in his personal life." Macarubo had been disbarred in 2004 because it was revealed that he had married three women.

The report noted: "Macarubbo married complainants Florence Teves and Josephine Constantino while his first marriage to Helen Esparza was still valid. As such, he was found guilty of gross immoral conduct in violation of Canon 1, Rule 1.01 and Canon 7, Rule 7.03 of the Code of Professional Responsibility."
