ABS-CBNNews.com reports that Yassin Ebrahim, a former campaign coordinator of the Liberal Party (LP) in Quiapo district, was eating in a restaurant with his cousin when he was shot at close range by a still unidentified gunman at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12. The LP proclamation rally at Plaza Miranda had also been held last night.

The report revealed: "The gunman immediately fled the scene and was seen walking towards the Quiapo Golden Mosque. Ebrahim sustained two gunshot wounds to his back. He remains in critical condition in Medical Center Manila."

However, according to the report, "Team P-Noy Spokesperson Miro Quimbo clarified that he thought the shooting was not politically motivated." The report also quoted Supt. Ricky Layog, Manila Police Station 3 Commander, said that Ebrahim may have had tiffs with people in the course of running his money lending business or when he was an administrator of the Golden Mosque, as he "may have also angered some people in the area due to some of his policies."
