Darwin G. Amojelar of InterAksyon.com reports that in a forum held on Wednesday, February 27, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) revealed that "Quezon City is the deadliest Philippine city for pedestrians." The conclusion was, of course, based on data gathered from 2012 incident reports.

The InterAksyon.com report cited MMDA general manager Corazon Jimenez, who pointed out that "Quezon City had the highest incidence of pedestrian fatalities at 60 last year." The report noted, however, that the death toll was at 74 in 2011.

The report then continued: "Trailing Quezon City were Manila with 21; Caloocan, 13; Malabon, 9; Makati, 8; Las Pinas, Valenzuela and Pasig, each with 6; Muntinlupa, 5; Taguig, 4; Marikina, 3; Mandaluyong, 2; and Pasay, 1. Pateros, San Juan, and Navotas recorded zero pedestrian fatalities last year."

The report also added: "In terms of overall pedestrian-related accidents (fatal and otherwise), Pasay recorded the most number at 1,246; followed by Quezon City, 428; Manila, 364; Malabon, 360;  Mandaluyong, 339; Navotas, 334; and Marikina, 304."
