ABS-CBNNews.com reports that hundreds of Filipinos have fled from Sabah, but they are "just the initial batch of some 500,000 Filipinos expected to flee Sabah especially after the Malaysian government rejected the unilateral ceasefire call of Sultan Jamalul Kiram III." Most of those who have returned from Sabah are from Tawi-Tawi.

As such, the report noted: "Local officials in Simunul, Tawi-Tawi meanwhile, are considering declaring a state of calamity. This will allow them to deal with the arrival of Filipino deportees and refugees from Sabah. The evacuees that have already arrived in Tawi-Tawi are mostly without jobs or livelihood."
