Bernard Testa of InterAksyon.com reports that on early Friday, April 26, "Laguna police, responding to a concerned citizen’s report, intercepted a dark blue Hyundai van, with plate number WTD 265, in San Pedro town and discovered within it 49 dead dogs." The report noted that the information was disclosed by the Animal Kingdom Foundation. The report also added: "Another 19 dogs were found alive, and were turned over to the foundation for immediate medical attention."

Police arrested the van’s driver, identified as Ronette Medina and passenger Benjie Abante. The report didn’t say if Medina or Abante had already told police what the dead dogs were for. Police said that they were most probably going to be chopped up and their meat sold.
