13,883 cases of injuries from motorcycle mishaps recorded in last 3 months of 2012, says DOH

The Philippine News Agency, via InterAksyon.com, reports that according to the Department of Health (DOH), "a total of 13,883 injury cases of motorcycle accidents were reported in the last quarter of 2012."

The Philippine News Agency, via InterAksyon.com, reports that according to the Department of Health (DOH), "a total of 13,883 injury cases of motorcycle accidents were reported in the last quarter of 2012." The DOH made the announcement on Monday, April 29, and revealed that the data came from 86 participating government and private hospitals.

 

The report explained: "According to the DOH's Online National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (ONEISS), nine out of 10 dead-on-arrival (DOA) motorcycle riders were not wearing helmet at the time of accident." As such, the report said DOH Secretary Enrique Ona "reminded motorcyclists as well as other vehicle drivers to be more cautious."
