ABS-CBN correspondent Zen Hernandez reports that a number of Manila mayor-elect Joseph "Erap" Estrada's supporters visited and camped outside his house in Manila on Thursday, May 16, to ask for "balato."
The report noted that the supporters, most of whom came from Tondo, "wanted to test Estrada’s famous slogan: 'Erap para sa mahirap (Erap for the poor),'" by asking him for even just a small amount of money. They were left empty-handed, though, since the former president did not show up.
The report quoted a post on Estrada's Facebook page as saying that "the mayor-elect took a much needed rest yesterday and also visited the dentist due to an aching tooth." According to his spokesperson, Estrada is due to appear on Saturday at a motorcade "to personally thank his supporters."
