Manila Police District's water bill runs up to ₱8 million

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the water supply at the Manila Police District's (MPD) headquarters has been cut off by water service provider Maynilad on Tuesday after it failed to pay its water bill amounting to ₱8 million.

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that the water supply at the Manila Police District's (MPD) headquarters has been cut off by water service provider Maynilad on Tuesday, May 21, after it failed to pay its water bill amounting to ₱8 million.

According to the report, "Maynilad’s records show that the debt of MPD from its four accounts has ballooned to a total of ₱8 million since 2005." It further explained, "The three accounts were disconnected last year. Only one account was kept active by Maynilad after the MPD promised to pay at least ₱1.7 million before the end of 2012." The station, however, has failed to settle its debt with the water service provider until now.

Although the MPD has pointed to the underground leaks it discovered just last year as a cause for its huge water bill, the report said that "no one from the Manila police was able to explain why the debts remain to be unpaid."
