ABS-CBN correspondent Willard Cheng reports that the official Philippine time in all government offices is now expected to be synchronized after President Aquino signed Republic Act 10535 or the law setting the Philippine Standard Time (PST).

According to the report, the law mandates "national and local government offices to display the PST on their official time devices including bundy clocks." Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said that PAGASA is the government agency "mandated to set and maintain the PST."

Private broadcast stations are also covered by the law. RA 10535 states that "owners of private television and radio stations who shall fail to calibrate and synchronize their time devices with the PST during their broadcast... may be penalized with a fine of P30,000-P50,000." In the case of a second offense, the stations' franchises to operate may be revoked or cancelled.
