ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz reports that billionaire boxer and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao has topped the list of the richest congressmen for the third time, declaring a net worth of over P1.7 billion.
According to the report, Pacquiao, who was named by Sports Illustrated as "the sixth highest paid non-American athlete, after earning $39 million in 2012," has a net worth of P1,770,566,772.00 based on the statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) he submitted. It added that the wealthiest lawmakers next to Pacquiao in the 15th Congress were: "former First Lady Imelda Marcos (P922,800,000), House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. (P817,574,180.31), Alfredo "Albee" Benitez (P702,065,517.00), Julio Ledesma IV (P590, 557,605.26), Martin Romualdez (P474,181,702.59) and Mark Villar (P361,782,107)-son of senator-billionaire Manny Villar."
"The House of Representatives remains a multi-millionaires’ club with 271 of the 278 lawmakers having a net worth above P 1million each, and the top 29 having a net worth of over P100 million each," the report said.
