Vice Ganda publicly apologizes to Jessica Soho regarding rape joke

( In an 11-minute speech during Showtime on May 29, Vice Ganda owned up to and publicly apologized for a joke that offended veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho. The joke, which referenced gang rape, was made during his concert on May 17. The public apology was made after Vice Ganda made a personal phone call to Soho to express his regret about her response to the joke he made. Soho had cut the call short after saying that he caught her during a bad time.

"Walang kahit isang joke na pinagtawanan ng lahat (There is no one joke that made everyone laugh)" Vice Ganda stated, humbly dismissing his words as just plain humor. He further stated that he is well aware that the people he made fun of during the concert had every right to feel offended and seeing that Soho was insulted, thought it was only proper to apologize, "Sinasadya man o hindi, kapag may nasaktan ka, humingi ka ng tawad (With or without intent, apologize if you hurt someone). "

On the issue of rape, the comedian said that he does not take the issue lightly, and that he would never intend on making victims of sexual assault subjects of ridicule.
