DOH ditches SEX acronym for health program after call center workers protest

Agence France-Presse reports via InterAksyon.com that the Department of Health announced on Tuesday that it is scrapping its latest advocacy for call center workers to have more "SEX" following objections from representatives of the industry.

Agence France-Presse reports via InterAksyon.com that the Department of Health (DOH) announced on Tuesday that it is scrapping its latest advocacy for call center workers to have more "SEX" following objections from representatives of the industry.

The report explained that the SEX acronym, which stood for "Stress-free, Eat the right foods and Exercise", "was supposed to encourage the country’s army of call center workers to lead healthier lifestyles." The article quoted DOH Undersecretary Dr. Enrique Tayag as saying that the agency "thought it would be funny" to use the cheeky tagline to help call center agents remember the elements of healthy living. But Tayag said representatives of the call center industry objected to it because their sector "was already being stigmatized by reports that HIV infections were higher among their workers."

The article noted that the DOH is still continuing the campaign for call center agents but will be using the "tamer" slogan of "Live Well, Work Well" from now on.
