PH government launches national essay contest, open to the public

GMA News Online reports that the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) has launched an essay competition in time for the celebration of the "Buwan ng Wika" in August that aims to "sharpen, rekindle and further intellectualize the Filipino language."

According to the report, this year's Gawad KWF sa Sanaysay will have the theme, "Wika Natin ang Daang Matuwid." The contest is open to the public "except for KWF employees and their relatives." The article noted that anyone who is interested to join the contest should "submit authentic, previously unpublished manuscripts written in Filipino, and must not be a translation from another language." The deadline for submission of entries is on July 1.

Additional details about the contest can be found on the KWF site.
