Vessel with 57 people sinks near Masbate, search and rescue operations ongoing

ABS-CBNNews.com reports that according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), "M/V Mt. Carmel sank off Masbate’s Burias Island at around 5 a.m. on Friday, June 14, after being met by huge waves." The report noted that the vessel was "35 passengers, 22 crew members, two buses, and a six-wheeler truck" and that "it leftPio Duran Port in Albay at around 2 a.m. bound for Aroroy, Masbate."

 

The report revealed that "search and rescue operations for the missing crew members and passengers were ongoing" as of 7:19 a.m. today."
