11,000 people sign up to participate in Albay's largest human no-smoking sign attempt for Guinness World Records

Danny Calleja of the Philippine News Agency reports via InterAksyon.com that 11,000 people have signed up as of Saturday, June 15, to help Albay in its bid to create the world's largest human-no smoking sign.

According to the report, the province's planned attempt on June 28 "will gather some 13,000 people who shall converge at the Bicol University football field here and form the no-smoking sign, occupying a 5,033-square-meter area." Herbert Borja of the Smoke-Free Albay Network (SFAN) said the current world record in the category "is formed by 250 persons."

Borja added that Guinness World Records has required "that the internationally-recognized sign for no-smoking, a lighted and smoking cigarette stick within a circle-backlash symbol, be used in the record attempt."
