Agence France-Presse reports via InterAksyon.com that community leaders of a village in Papua New Guinea are "refusing to hand over" to the police the 18-year old girl who beheaded her father with a bush knife on June 11 when he attempted to rape her again.

According to the report, community leaders of a village in Western Highlands said "the man deserved to die" because of his "evil actions." An article about the incident that appeared on The Post-Courier on Monday, June 17, quoted a pastor as saying that the father, "in his mid-40s, had three other children and raped his daughter when they were alone in the house after the mother and the other siblings visited relatives."
