Eiffel Tower evacuated after man tries to commit suicide by jumping off it

Agence France-Presse (via ABS-CBNNews.com) reports that "the Eiffel Tower had to be evacuated for two hours Tuesday, June 18, after a man threatened to throw himself off" the monument.

The report explained that "The man, who described himself as Polish and was said by police to have mental health issues, was talked down and arrested just before 3 p.m.," after he attempted to climb up from the outer part of the tower's second floor to the third floor. The man supposedly told police officers in broken English that he "had wanted to be filmed by a helicopter."
