Japan’s Mt. Fuji formally named as World Heritage site by UNESCO

The Philippine News Agency (via InterAksyon.com) reports that on Saturday, June 22, "the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) decided to inscribe Japan’s iconic Mt. Fuji on the UN agency’s prestigious World Heritage List."

 

The report noted: "The 3,776-meter mountain west of Tokyo was approved by the 21-member committee under the UNESCO at its 37th session, which was held at Phnom Penh, Cambodia."
