Edwin Sallan of InterAksyon.com reports that director Tikoy Aguiluz has confirmed casting Derek Ramsay in the title role of Eman, a biopic based on the life of the "brilliant young poet turned rebel" Emmanuel A.F. Lacaba.
Â
According to the report, Eman is Aguiluz's entry "to the very first Sineng Pambansa National Film Festival All-Masters Edition scheduled from September 7 to 16." The biopic tells the story of Lacaba, a well-known writer, songwriter and activist whose works include the lyrics of "Awit ni Kuala," the song sung by Lolita Rodriguez in Lino Brocka's Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang. The 27-year-old Lacaba was killed in Davao Del Norte in 1976 after a comrade betrayed his whereabouts to the military.
Â
Aguiluz said Mylene Dizon will also appear in the movie alongside Ramsay as Lacaba's wife, Lali.
