China set to execute Pinay drug mule

Pia Lee-Brago of The Philippine Star reports that a Filipina "is scheduled to be executed in China next week for drug trafficking."

According to the report, the Filipina "was sentenced to death without reprieve in 2012" after she was caught by Chinese authorities in a province near Shanghai carrying 12.369 kilos of high-grade heroin. A Filipino man who was traveling with her was also arrested in the police operations.

Unnamed embassy sources were quoted in the report as saying that "the decision to execute the Filipina was handed down this week."
