Veteran character actress Ama Quiambao dies at 65

Erwin Santiago of PEP.ph reports that veteran movie-television-theater actress Ama Quiambao passed away on Saturday, July 6. She was 65.
The report quoted the late actress’ younger sister, Lui Quiambao-Manansala, who posted this message on her Facebook account: "My sister Ama Quiambao passed away peacefully at 8:09 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013. She was surrounded by all members of her family and close relatives. Let us pray for the eternal rest of her soul. The wake will be held at Arlington in Araneta Avenue. Details will be announced later. Let us all remember Ama with fondness as a colleague, a mentor and a friend."
Quiambao had collapsed on stage on June 28, while performning in the play, Pamamanhikan, one of the entries in the Virgin Labfest at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Quiambao was rushed to San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay City, where it was confirmed that she had a heart attack. She was later transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City. She remained comatose until her death.
