Gabriela set to file bill supporting same-sex marriage
But the party-list says it will focus first on passing the divorce bill.
ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz reports that the Gabriela party-list plans to file a bill approving same-sex marriage in the Philippines "when the right time comes."
According to the report, Congresswoman Luzviminda Ilagan said she and her colleagues in the party-list would file the bill after they are through working on their legislative priorities. The party-list is currently in the process of drafting a bill allowing divorce in the Philippines based on certain conditions such as marital infidelity and psychological incapacity.
Aside from this, Ilagan said the party-list is working on "the amendments of the anti-rape law, the increase in maternity leave benefits, the repeal of the [expanded value-added tax] and various investigations on the plight of overseas Filipino workers."
