Caloocan City implements "Orange Lane" scheme for sidewalk vendors
Will it work?
Manila Standard Today's Gigi Muñoz-David reports that Caloocan City Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan has ordered the creation of an "Orange Lane" along Rizal Avenue Extension near LRT Monumento station where sidewalk vendors will be allowed.
According to the report, the colored lane will be set up as part of Malapitan's "Oplan Clean Agad" to rid streets and sidewalks of obstructions. Vendors are only allowed to set up their booths within the lane and sell their products from 4 p.m. to 5 a.m. The mayor has tasked the Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (DPSTM) to keep the city's road flow in order.
