DOST mandated to host all government websites

Websites of all government agencies will sport a new look and feel once they’re hosted by DOST.

JM Tuazon of reports that Malacañang has issued an order "mandating the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to host all government websites, under the agency's servers, where they can leverage new resources and be shielded from cyber attacks."

According to the report, Administrative Order No. 39 requires all national government agencies, government financial institutions, and government-owned and controlled corporations "to have their websites hosted under the new Government Web Hosting Service (GWHS), which will be operational in the coming months." All government websites will "sport a common look and feel across the board" once they are under the GWHS.

AO 39 exempts local government units (LGUs) from being under the new Web hosting facility but merely encourages LGU heads to do so if the change would benefit them.
