P-Noy urges Ateneans to stop ranting about government’s shortcomings on social media

The president said tweeting about a problem can only do so much.

Pots de Leon of InterAksyon.com reports that President Benigno Aquino III told Ateneans during a visit to his alma mater on Saturday that they should reach out to others and step out of their comfort zones instead of simply ranting about the country’s problems on social media.

The report explained that Aquino, the keynote speaker at the Ateneo de Manila University’s 2nd Ignatian Festival, told Ateneans that inaction will make them part of the problem. He said that addressing the country’s most pressing problems does not stop at writing about them for reflection papers or tweeting a rant, but going out of the school to find solutions.

This year’s Ignatian Festival also featured a concert, a campus tour and talks by distinguished Ateneo alumni such as Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis Tolentino.
