Bureau of Customs chief Ruffy Biazon offers resignation right after being criticized in P-Noy’s SONA
Then again, his resignation wasn’t accepted.
ABS-CBNNews.com's Jojo Malig reports that Bureau of Customs (BOC) chief Ruffy Biazon offered to resign from his post minutes after President Benigno Aquino III criticized the agency his 2013 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
According to the report, Biazon announced his intent on Twitter a few hours after the SONA ended on Monday. The former congressman of Muntinlupa City also tweeted the President's response to his offer. "Ruffy, we both know the difficulties in the agency you are trying to reform. My confidence in you remains the same," Aquino said. There is currently no update yet on whether the President has accepted Biazon's resignation or not.
In his SONA, Aquino slammed government agencies such as the BOC, the Bureau of Immigration, and the National Irrigation Administration for being inefficient and corrupt. The report said the president "did not mention Biazon in particular, but lashed out at the bureau’s officials and employees."
