Ombudsman keeps tight watch on "problem agencies" mentioned in P-Noy’s 2013 SONA

Some government agencies appear to have more problems than others.

Michael Punongbayan of The Philippine Star reports that Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales has ordered the speedy resolution of cases involving the "problem agencies" mentioned in President Benigno Aquino III's fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

According to the report, "Assistant Ombudsman Asryman Rafanan said departments like the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and National Irrigation Administration (NIA) are of priority concern." The three government agencies had been the target of Aquino's criticism during his SONA for their lackluster performance.

A major overhaul is now taking place at the BOC following Aquino's unsavory comment about Customs officials while a change of leadership has been instituted at BI and NIA.
