Sen. Chiz Escudero proposes 2 "funny solutions" to fight corruption at Bureau of Customs
You may laugh at his suggestions.
ABS-CBN correspondent RG Cruz reports that Senator Francis Escudero has made two "funny" proposals to help solve the problem of corruption at the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
According to the report, Escudero suggested that "cosmetic changes" such as the removal of pockets from the uniforms of Customs officials and doing away of drawers for office tables be done at the BOC . The senator admitted that although the proposals seem funny, it may help change the public's perception of it as a government agency prone to corruption.
Aside from these, the senator also proposed the return of SGS at the BOC as a private appraiser of customs and tariff duties "to make sure there is minimal or no discretion on the part of Customs personnel in assessing the value of the shipment."
