Bread prices expected to increase this month

The price hike may take effect on the third week of August.

News5's Michelle Orosa and Roices Naguit report via that bread prices are set to rise by as much as P3 for a load of Pinoy Tasty and P1.50 for a 10-pack Pinoy Pandesal this August.

The report explained that the association of supermarket operators recently confirmed from its suppliers that bread prices will increase sometime during the third week of August. The grocery owners, however, said they are not aware about the reason behind the price hike.

Malacañang said bread prices will not increase "as of the moment" because the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is still consulting with flour millers about possible alternatives to a price hike.
