Saudi man weighing 610 kilos forklifted to hospital
King Abdullah is paying for his treatment.
Agence France-Presse (via InterAksyon.com) reports that Khaled Mohsin Shairi of Saudi Arabia, who weighs 610 kilograms (1,344 pounds), "was forklifted to hospital on Monday, August 19 for medical treatment at the expense of the monarch to reduce his weight."
According to Saudi Arabia’s state news agency, Shairi "was flown from his southwestern hometown of Jizan to Riyadh on a specially-equipped plane." The state news agency also revealed: "Acting on orders of King Abdullah, the health ministry had to acquire a specially-made bed and a crane to transfer Shairi from his second-floor apartment." Meanwhile, the Sabq news website noted that bed used to transport Sairi was "specially made in the United States."
