Online petition wants PAGASA to name typhoons after corrupt politicians
PAGASA may never run out of names should this petition succeed.
Ira Pedrasa of ABS-CBNNews.com reports that a petition has been posted on Change.org "asking the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) to name typhoons after corrupt politicians."
According to the report, a certain Ismael Tolden initiated the petition because for him, "the devastation they (politicians) cause is so great... Mother Nature can’t even compete with them for the destruction of life and property." "Sign up now! Let this be a constant reminder of how our hard-earned money has been stolen or misspent by corrupt politicians," he added.
The petition, which began on Tuesday, September 3, has obtained 870 signatures as of 6:00 p.m. that day. It is one of around 20 petitions on pork barrel scam created by Filipinos on Change.org, an online venue to publicize one's call for action.
