J.K. Rowling announces she will write the story for the new Harry Potter spin-off movie series
Potter fans, rejoice!
Katy Lee of Agence France-Presse reports (via InterAksyon.com) that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling recently announced on her Facebook page that she will be the screenwriter for the spin-off film based on the textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them used by Potter and his classmates at Hogwarts in the novels.
The report explained that "Fantastic Beasts" will be the first in a set of spin-off films set in the wizarding world that Warner Bros. will produce and whose screenplay Rowling will write. A short description of the film released by Warner Bros. said Fantastic Beasts will be set in New York "70 years before the events of the core Potter novels." It will also feature magical zoologist Newt Scamander, the textbook's author.
In her Facebook post, Rowling clarified: ""Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world."
