NU Pep Squad dethrones UP in UAAP Cheerdance Competition
NU was like a stubborn bulldog about its cheerdance dream.
We’re pretty sure you’ve heard of this by now. But, in case you didn’t know, here’s how the UAAP Cheerdance Competition turned out.
Olmin Leyba of The Philippine Star reports that the National University (NU) Pep Squad took home the crown for this year’s UAAP-Samsung Cheerdance Competition with an Arabian Nights-inspired performance.
According to the report, "the NU Bulldogs logged 696.5 points to handily beat the field and break the stranglehold of the party-themed UP Pep Squad (620.5) whose bid for a "four-peat" was spoiled. La Salle Animo Squad, utilizing a military peg, took third place honors with 596.5 points." The school also won first place in the Group Stunts category.
UP Pep Squad, the perennial winner of the Cheerdance Competition in the last four years, "did considerably well in all aspects but was hurt by an 18-point deduction for errors/falls," the report noted.
